Scotscape has completed a unique living wall installation at the National Gallery in London. Consisting of over 8,000 individual plants of more than 26 different varieties, the wall is bringing
a version of Van Gogh’s famous painting ‘A Wheatfield with Cypresses’ to life.
Situated on a hoarding on the western side of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, the ‘painting’ will grow throughout the summer and autumn and will remain in place until the end
of October 2011….and possibly beyond.
Scotscape worked closely with ANS to create the installation, with each plant selected for its unique colour to match the tones of the original painting and then hand-planted into its location.
Taking responsibility for the living wall installation, the Scotscape team was on site for 5 days,
with the company’s maintenance team now visiting the wall on a weekly basis to ensure the Wall is looking in pristine condition. |
